About VAT Calculator

VAT (Value Added Tax) is a consumption tax applied to goods and services at each stage of production. This calculator lets you either add VAT to a net (pre-tax) price to find the gross price, or extract VAT from a gross (VAT-inclusive) price to find the net price and the tax component. Common VAT rates include 5% (Canada GST, Japan), 10% (Australia, South Korea), 20% (UK, France), and 25% (Sweden, Norway). Use the preset buttons for quick access to standard rates, or enter any custom rate you need.

FAQ

How do I add VAT to a price?
Select 'Add VAT to price', enter the net amount, choose your VAT rate, and click Calculate. The result shows the VAT amount and the total price including VAT. For example, £100 at 20% VAT becomes £120 total (£20 VAT).
How do I remove VAT from a price?
Select 'Remove VAT from price', enter the gross (VAT-inclusive) amount, choose your VAT rate, and click Calculate. The formula used is: Net price = Gross price ÷ (1 + VAT rate). For example, £120 at 20% VAT gives a net price of £100 and VAT of £20.

Common rates include: 5% (Canada GST, Japan consumption tax), 10% (Australia GST, South Korea, China), 19% (Germany), 20% (UK, France, Austria), 21% (Netherlands, Belgium), 23% (Poland, Ireland), 25% (Sweden, Denmark, Norway).
